If I Were in Charge of the World

If I Were in Charge of the World

(Form change poem with thanks to Judith Viorst)

If I were in charge of the world,

I’d cancel cleaning my messy room, masks, and also horrible math work.

If I were in charge of the world,

There would be more school breaks,

More family movies,

And lots of playdates with my friends.

If I were in charge of the world,

You wouldn’t have gross foods,

You wouldn’t have to always to to school,

You wouldn’t have to sin.

If I were in charge of the world,

Ice cream with lots of whipped cream, sprinkles, and candy would be a balanced meal,

All people would not be mean,

And a person who sometimes is annoying and talks in weird voices

And sometimes doesn’t listen

Would still be allowed to be in charge of the world.
