I read about the life cycle of a beaver. An important vocabulary word in my book is bank lodge. It means a lodge built against a high bank.
People are the biggest threat to beavers. Today there are only about ten million beavers left in North America. Beavers build lodges only in deep, slow-moving water.

Thank you for the fantastic information on beavers and for the new vocabulary word. I also like beavers. I have a lake near my house and there are some beavers that live there. They are always building huts to live in out of out pieces of wood. They are fun to watch. What is your favorite thing about beavers?
